As part of our plans to deliver the UK’s new runway, we are committed to maximising benefits nationwide, and help every part of the country strengthen their links to new and expanding international markets. As the UK’s only hub airport, we serve more than 200 destinations across more than 80 countries and help export millions of tonnes of cargo each year.
Heathrow expansion will help us double cargo capacity, deliver up to 40 new long-haul routes across the world and more frequent and affordable connections in the UK. With new supply chain and trading opportunities for businesses, we will be connecting more of the UK to growth.
Providing high-quality, lifelong careers and training to our colleagues is central to our expansion proposals. We are working with local and national partners to deliver significant opportunities such as developing new skills training and employability, as well as doubling the number of apprenticeships across the airport to 10,000 by 2030.
And we have already started progress here and have already widened our apprenticeships offer local colleges and universities to over 25 qualifications including level 2 to level 6 plus level 7 at Masters degree in Business Administration.
The Expansion Programme is an ambitious, dynamic and future thinking programme. It goes without saying that our Programme Teams mirror exactly this. Currently we have 7 key business areas which span across several different specialisms – that’s why we look for many different skills and experiences, from project management to finance control, from business planning to airline and airspace strategy. There is a place for everyone in our future.
Our Expansion Programme is growing faster than ever now and offers exciting opportunities across all our key divisions. These are:
